Aim and Scope

The Journal of Strategy and International Business (JSIB) is a scholarly and practitioner-oriented international journal. The journal publishes original and high-quality theoretical and robust empirical research addressing all aspects of strategy and international business, with a special emphasis on emerging economies. The objective of JSIB is to disseminate cutting-edge contributions and important practices that will impact the export development, strategies, business environment and management of international business across emerging economies. Although the emphasis is on emerging economies, the journal values contributions that explore how the strategies and international operations of these firms differ from firms in established market economies. JSIB is published by the Centre for Export Development (CED), South Africa.

JSIB welcomes manuscripts using a broad level of analysis, ranging from individuals, firms, and macro to cross-levels that offer contributions to the following areas:

Instructions for Authors

Manuscript Submission

JSIB is a peer-review journal publishing original and cutting-edge research in all aspects of strategy and international business, with a special emphasis on emerging economies. Therefore, the submission of a manuscript indicates that the work has not been published before or is currently under review for publication anywhere else. In the case of joint authorship, the submission must be approved by all co-authors. Besides, they are required to declare that there is no conflict of interest.

The text should be between 6,000 and 8,000 words, including endnotes, references, tables, figures. We also accept submissions of comments, book reviews or discussion notes which are not longer than 5000 words. In the case of figures, tables, or text passages that have already been published elsewhere, authors are required to obtain permission from the copyright owner(s) for both the print and online format. Thus, any material received will be assumed to have originated from the authors. The journal will not be held legally responsible in case of any compensation claims. Finally, authors should maintain high standards of publication ethics. Falsification of data, plagiarism and other unethical practices will not be tolerated.

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the JSIB are firstly reviewed by the editors. Manuscripts that do not properly fit the journal’s aim and scope may be rejected without peer review. The manuscripts that pass the initial assessment are sent out for peer review to two independent reviewers. Based on the reviewers’ feedback as well as the editors’ judgment, a decision is will be given on the manuscripts.

Manuscript Format and Organisation

Manuscripts may be formatted in single or double spacing. Margins should be one inch (2.5 cm) at the top, bottom and sides of the page. Font size should be 12 points, preferably in Times New Roman or Arial. Manuscripts should be submitted as a single file in Word, rich text format (rtf) or open document format (odt). While the manuscripts can be submitted in a PDF format alongside the Word file, PDFs alone will not be accepted.

Manuscripts must contain the following elements: Title page (List title, authors, and affiliations); Abstract; Keywords (up to six words) Acknowledgments (people, grants, funds, etc.); and other supporting information (if applicable). References should follow the APA, Chicago or MLA styles.

Publishing fees

JSIB is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal, meaning that manuscripts accepted are immediately accessible and free for anyone to download. The journal defrays all the publication costs through Article Processing Charges (APCs). Upon acceptance, a sum of 650 US Dollars will be paid by the author(s), their institution or funders.

Data Sharing

To facilitate and enhance data access and sharing for the benefits of scholars and practitioners, JSIB encourages authors to share data, that is, raw data, processed data, software, codes, models, algorithms, protocols, methods, materials, etc. that support the research findings.
