Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone as well as the dynamic sector of Africa’s economy. As per reports, these firms represent over 95 per cent of the business population both in the formal and informal sectors. This, therefore, makes them an essential lever for economic, social and environmental impact. However, in comparison to large firms, SMEs are more constrained by limited resources and capabilities, which makes them less likely to venture into exporting without external supports.

The Centre has a wide range of programs designed to motivate SMEs to internationalize, reduce export barriers, assist in planning for exporting. More importantly, we journey size-by-size with our clients, ensuring they grow and succeed in the global markets.

We’re committed to our service because we strongly believe that the drivers of economic growth and long-term sustainability for Africa lie in the development and promotion of the exporting capabilities of the SME sector.

Since its establishment in 2007, the Centre has developed models, strategies, training programs and integrated export promotion programmes that helped African entrepreneurial companies expand, explore opportunities, build capabilities and succeed in the global markets. We help export-oriented SMEs strengthen their competitive edge, thus making them more productive. This is how we create added value for our clients and prosperity for Africa.
