Our Services

The Centre for Export Development (CED) was founded in 2007 with the mandate to promote Africa’s value-added goods and services by motivating and helping export-oriented small and medium-sized enterprises to successfully expand, survive and grow in the global markets.

We achieve these objectives through cutting-edge research, capacity development, training programmes, integrated export promotion programmes and targeted collaborations with both public and private stakeholders.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone as well as the dynamic sector of Africa’s economy. As per reports, these firms represent over 95 per cent of the business population both in the formal and informal sectors. This, therefore, makes them an essential lever for economic, social and environmental impact. However, in comparison to large firms, SMEs are more constrained by limited resources and capabilities, which makes them less likely to venture into exporting without external support.
